Tracks were either submitted or we helped shape them in some way by bringing artists and producers together. As we began to build the tape out, all the tracks shared a vibe, eliciting a specific, undefinable mood, almost serendipitously. In this spirit, and we'd think you'd agree, this project isn't just a run of the mill compilation, but an experience. Each of these artists represent future, present, past and have had major impacts in our Hip Hop and music culture at large today. Most importantly these are artists internalizing and responding to the world around them. Given the times we're living in, their music is a most healing respite, their wisdom even more so. The project is called Countdown 2 Midnight: an allegory to the nuclear doomsday clock fully intact, but our chosen metaphor is for all artists everywhere. When your own doomsday clock hits midnight, what will you have left behind, and what will you do next for your world?
